Perpetual Motion: Paintings and Works on Paper by Jean Arnold PDF Print E-mail

Arnold_900South_Groundhog_72March 13, 2008 - June 8, 2008
Forty paintings, works on paper, and accordion-style artist's books by this Utah artist who combines a concern for peak oil and energy issues with a peripatetic method of gathering material. The semi-abstract works reflect on how the world looks at high speed through car, bus, and train windows.  Snippets of the built environment flashed and morphed in both muted and bright colors in Arnold's gestural painting style. The artist, who also often has work in the Yellowstone Art Museum's Annual Art Auction, presented a gallery talk at the time of opening. The YAM published a gallery brochure with comments authored by the artist and by Senior Curator Robert C. Manchester.
