Richard Swanson: Sculptural Rhythms PDF Print E-mail

Carol_kids_Swanson_show_100dpiJune 15, 2008 - October 26, 2008
Swanson’s large-scale sculpture was created specifically for YAM’s Northwest Projects gallery. The work comprised lyrical arcs of bent aluminum pipe that terminated, or were connected by, eccentrically shaped aluminum nodes. These light, airy, “drawings in space” were meant to be experienced with the body. They called to mind Alexander Calder’s "stabiles." Swanson also exhibited a series of maquettes (small models) for larger works, which gave an insight into the planning process for the large works.
