A Canadian who began his life in the saddle as a teenager in western Canada, Will James knew the ways of the cowboy trade inside out. A natural storyteller and observant draftsman, James turned to a career as a writer and illustrator about 1920. Between 1922 and 1942, Scribner's published nearly two dozen books written and illustrated by James. The Billings area was home base for him between 1926 and 1942. .

Yellowstone Art Museum Teams up with
Doodle 4 Google 2012
The YAM proudly announces its support of Doodle 4 Google 2012 by encouraging all students in the Montana community to participate.
You're probably familiar with the Google doodle, the fun versions of the Google logo that are displayed on the Google homepage throughout the year in celebration of holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of notable artists and scientists. This year, the Yellowstone Art Museum supports the Doodle 4 Google contest and invites all students across Montana, K-12, to submit their own Google doodle -- the best of which will be displayed on www.google.com.
