Wild West and Tranquil Seas On view in the Murdock Gallery until April 2010
Private collector William I. Koch shares 11 choice selections from his private collection with Montana audiences. Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) was one of the French Fauves ("Wild Beasts"), painters whose exuberant works introduced a new freedom in form and color. Dufy was often inspired by the French Riveria, but this painting is a view of another coastal playground: Deauville on the coast of Normandy. Alfred Jacob Miller (1810-1874) was one of the earliest artists working in the European tradition to travel to the North American West.

Get the Picture: Fourth Annual Small Works Auction
Viewing and bidding: November 13 - December 4, 2009. A Holiday Gift Extravaganza like no other! The Fourth Annual Small Works Auction at the Yellowstone Art Museum is the perfect opportunity to purchase artworks made by area artists. From November 13 through December 4, 2009, over 150 donated works by over 100 artists will be on display-and ready for bids-during our three-week long silent auction.

YAM will highlight works from the Peter Norton Family Christmas Project that have been acquired since 1994. The exhibit will open on 29 October 2009 and continue throughout the holidays until 10 January 2010.

Curious Finds: Selections from Billings Private Collections Get a privileged and personal view into the collecting passions of a few of your Billings neighbors. This eclectic selection will range from extraordinary works of Asian art to French Barbizon paintings to contemporary American landscapes by Montana painter Clyde Aspevig...and everything in between! Accompanied by programs that explore the very human pursuit of collecting, this exhibition is a rare treat.
